Hawaii Day 3

 We started off the day with a trip to Hanauma Bay for some snorkeling.  This was one of my favorite spots on Hawaii when I visited 13 years ago and it didn't disappoint.  We saw tons of fish and coral and enjoyed our first day at the beach.

 When we'd had our fill of snorkeling we packed up and headed to Aloha Stadium Swap Meet.  My friend Jaime lived in Hawaii for a few years and recommend going there for souvenirs.  It was huge and had every kind of vendor you could imagine.  We picked up a few items and then headed over to Pearl Harbor just in time for the last boat tour of the day.

 The memorial at the USS Arizona is above it but doesn't touch the wreckage at all.  It is sobering to think how many people died that day.  We saw a plaque that also listed civilian casualties and it listed several babies- one that was only 3 months old that died with its family on one of the beaches during the bombing.

 After Pearl Harbor we headed back to our hotel and cleaned up and then went out to eat in Waikiki.  We ate at Teddy's Bigger Burger and it was probably the best burger I've ever had!  It was so good.

 Since it was a Saturday night Waikiki was busy with all kinds of street performers.  One interesting one was this guy that looked like a gold statue but if you put money in his basket he'd move for you and let you take a picture with him.  It reminded me a bit of Boston at Faneuil Hall on the weekends.
