The Great Minnesota Get-Together

Here in Minnesota the state fair is big deal. In fact it's a really big deal. This year over 1.7 million people attended and participated in "The Great Minnesota Get-Together," as it has come to be known.

Over our past six years living here (and Mike's childhood years) we have developed our own traditions and favorites at the fair. I never thought I would end up raising a family in Minnesota but so far we've been very blessed here and enjoy the fun things Minnesota has to offer. Here are some pictures enjoying the fair.

Miracle of Birth Center- (They have several farm animals you can actually watch giving birth and they always have little piglets, lambs, chicks, or calves you can pet. I couldn't get a good picture of it but Camille really enjoyed seeing all the animals up close.

Dairy Barn- We always enjoy watching the milking demonstrations, tasting free samples of cheese or whatever dairy product they are sampling, and getting milkshakes here.

We have a picture of Anna in this chair almost every year. I love the pork rib sandwich so we always make the stop.

Little Farm Hands- This has been my kids favorite for years and this year Camille finally joined in the fun. Here kids dress up and help act out different jobs around the farm. At the end they "earn" fake money that they can turn in at the little grocery store for a treat. What kid wouldn't love this?

And of course at the fair we love to eat!

Camille getting introduced to Sweet Martha's Cookies and the milk stand.

A cookie in both hands! Can you see why we like the fair?

A few other highlights for us are the Lumber Jack Show, the Giant Slide, the Sky Ride, Giant Pumpkins and Bees in the Agriculture building, and viewing the woodworking projects from high school students (this last one is a stop for Mike if you couldn't tell).
