Camping

This past weekend we went camping over my birthday. I was a little worried about how it would turn out but we had a great time. We took Adam camping when he was 1 year old and we decided not to do that again. This was Anna's first camping trip (at nearly 3 years) and both kids did great.

We went with some good friends with two kids with similar ages. We went on a walk along the St. Croix River after dinner. I thought this was a cool tree.



















The next morning Michael got up and made us all a delicious breakfast complete with pancakes topped with strawberries & whipped cream, bacon, sausage, and orange juice. We went canoing on the St. Croix River. It was so beautiful and relaxing. We even saw a turtle and a bald eagle!



















We stopped for a break on a little island between Minnesota & Wisconsin to let the kids play for a bit. I took off my life vest and accidentally forgot it there. After we got all the way back to the canoe rental Mike had to paddle back by himself to get it. Luckily, a big gust of wind turned his canoe right as he was passing another canoe. He apologized for getting in their way and said he was going back to get a life vest. It turned out that they picked it up and were going to return it. In the end he only had to go part way back.














After lunch Brian took us on our first geo-cache (GPS treasure hunt). We walked on a beautiful trail through some wetlands and again enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. I loved this shot of Brooklyn & Adam.














All and all it was a great birthday!
