Mississippi Head Waters with Jeff and Nat

As I mentioned before, we took my brother, Jeff, and his wife, Natalie, camping during their trip to Minnesota.  We chose Itasca State Park which is where the Mississippi River starts.  It is a beautiful state park with nice amenities and plenty to do there.  Natalie has not been camping much so she was a good sport for putting up with our crew while camping. Both Jeff and Nat were a huge help around camp.  It's amazing how going from 2 adults & 4 kids to 4 adults & 4 kids changes things.  Too bad we can't always have a 1:1 adult to kid ratio.

While we were there we enjoyed a lot of great food, took a boat out on the lake and saw several loons, walked across the start of the Mississippi River, played at the beach, geo-cached, fished, star gazed, played games,  took a run together, got up and close with nature seeing huge raccoons (just ask Natalie), and talked late into the evening.  It was a great trip.

Eating dinner in our "bug tent"  the spiders kept crawling  in and by the second day we just ate outside.
