Nauvoo

For MEA weekend in October of 2013 we took a trip to Nauvoo.  We found out right before we were leaving that some of our best friends, the Pollmanns, also were going at the same time.  Friends, hotels, and pools make for a great time but on top of all that we were able to enjoy all that Nauvoo has to offer.  Mike and I both got to do a session at the temple which is just beautiful inside and out.  Calvin was a handful and didn't want to listen at all the different houses, but luckily it was off-season and not busy at all.  We usually had our own private tours of each house. The kids can't wait to got back.

 That's a full wagon!
 Printers shop
Camille liked these flowers and wanted a picture with them.  I'm still not sure what kind they were but they were huge.
Calvin Pendleton Home and School- our Calvin could have cared less.
 Brick Yard
Nauvoo Temple- isn't it just lovely?
Mike snapped this picture of the kids running down the hill in front of the temple.  This is usually where the pageant is every summer.
We took a horse drawn wagon ride with the Pollmanns.
 Carthage Jail
Bullet shot through the door that killed Hyrum Smith
 Outside Carthage Jail
Learning to make rope
These two loved the Living Center which was set up great for kids.

My parents are missionaries in Nauvoo right now, so I was hoping to see them giving you a tour in your pictures, but no such luck. Glad you guys got to go! We are loving being so close now that we are in Wisconsin. Also, I've been using your posts to research going to the Dells. :)

Looks like an awesome trip. So glad the children are learning about church history. Dad has stories of a few of your ancestors who lived in this time period.
