Spring Break and Easter

We had a rather low key spring break this year.  No big trips but we did do a few fun things and had friends over a few times.  One day I took the kids to Toys R'Us and gave them each $5 to spend.  Camille had a gift certificate from her birthday and Adam & Anna brought their own money too.  It was funny to see each of them make decisions about what to buy weighing the cost vs how much they wanted it.  Camille who had the most money because of the gift certificate wanted the first 2 things she saw at the store and was done within minutes.  Anna walked the isles eyeing different things but eventually settled on several Crayola art supplies since they were buy 1 get 1 50% off.  She wanted the deal.  Adam looked around the whole store and as we were about to leave he still hadn't chosen anything.  He didn't want to spend his money and the $5 wasn't going to get him very far.  After a little help from me convincing him to buy the game pick up sticks he decided he would spend $2 of his own money to pay the $7 total.  It's not like he doesn't have money.  He has a lot for a kid his age!   He is just my saver and has been since he was little.  We started bank accounts for each of the kids years ago and match any money they decide to put into it.  When we got home from the store he gave me 2 more dollars to put in his account (matched to $4).  He'll be a rich man someday!

Other fun things over spring break included going out to lunch, once with cousins and once with our friends the Heads, having a sugar cookie party with friends over, swimming at the community pool, watching movies, several games, playing wii, reading (I let Adam continue the Harry Potter series and he just about finished book 5 that week), and the highlight was dying Easter eggs at Grandma Gray's house. We stayed for lunch and she even had a little egg hunt with the kids.

Easter was a beautiful day.  The kids loved the morning activities.  Calvin couldn't believe he was allowed to eat treats in the morning.  Church was especially nice, and our family dinner later at Matt and Erin's was delicious.  Matt & Erin had yet another egg hunt for the kids planned.  Adam found their "golden egg" with several dollars inside.  Thanks Grandma and Matt & Erin!

Sounds like a fun Spring Break! Kids love money in a toy store. Funny to see their spending habits forming early.

So fun to read about their little shopping trip! Cute to see their personalities in that way. Great pics as always!
